Work Experience - Year 10 students
July 2009
Dear Parent/Carer
Work Experience 17th to 28th May 2010
The dates for next year’s Work Experience placements for all Year 10 students have been confirmed as 17th May 2010 to 28th May 2010. Please note that these differ from the provisional dates indicated at the Year 9 Options Evening.
It is very important that students start the process of finding a placement as soon as possible as there are 240 students in Year 10 plus students from other schools in the borough seeking placements at the same time. I am allocated a limited number of placements through the Enfield Work Experience Scheme but I would encourage students to try and find their own private placements as it is usually these placements that provide our students with the most beneficial and rewarding experiences.
This year we are contacting parents prior to the summer holidays to allow the maximum amount of time for our students to consider and research their work experience placements.
Attached to this letter is a leaflet explaining the details of the scheme and additional information can also be obtained from the Enfield Work Experience website at www.enfield-workex.org.uk
In September I will contact parents again outlining any deadlines that need to be met and providing a copy of the Private Placement form.
This scheme provides our students with a very valuable insight into the world of work and often companies are happy to supply our students with references as well as, in some cases, apprenticeships and employment.
I would be very grateful if you could encourage your son/daughter to consider this process carefully and would also draw your attention to a careers website which our students have accessed this year www.fasttomato.co.uk which may give an indication of employment areas worthy of consideration.
I hope that your son/ daughter enjoys the Work Experience process and if at any time you would like to discuss the scheme with me then please do not hesitate to contact me at the school on extension 323.
Yours sincerely
