The Winchmore School Inclusion Faculty is underpinned by the whole school vision which is to create a successful and harmonious learning community, where everybody feels safe, included and valued, and where everybody can take advantage of every opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Our Inclusion Faculty brings together a large and highly skilled team working across a wide range of provisions. We work with students, parents and carers to remove barriers to learning, to strengthen wellbeing, to promote belonging and to help every student thrive. The team includes teaching assistants, specialist subject teachers, counsellors and wellbeing professionals, behaviour mentors and other specialist colleagues, all supported by a strong administrative team working towards a shared purpose.
Inclusion is a collective commitment to understanding each individual child and responding to what they need in order to engage, participate, achieve and feel that they belong. Our approach is child- centred and holistic.
Across the faculty we offer a broad range of support, including wellbeing and counselling, mentoring, EAL and EMA provision, literacy support, learning studios, access arrangements, safeguarding and child protection, provision for looked-after children, specialist teaching and targeted intervention. Each area brings its own expertise, but our greatest strength lies in the way we work together.
Our success can be found in the stories of our students. The student who finds the confidence to return to a mainstream classroom, the student who begins to believe in their own ability, the student who feels safe enough to ask for help, the student who finds a way to communicate, participate or achieve something that once felt out of reach.
Inclusion at Winchmore is about creating the conditions in which every student has the opportunity to flourish. It is part of what makes progress, attainment and achievement possible. In so doing we strive to deliver our vision of a successful learning community where everybody feels safe, included and valued, and where everybody can achieve their full potential. Come and visit to see our vision in practice.
