COUNSELLING

Marta Jandzis Counselling Lead

Counselling is like a guided treasure hunt, but instead of gold, you find all the feelings you’ve been avoiding. It’s a time of self-exploration where you laugh, cry, and sometimes marvel at the discoveries you make about yourself. Somewhere between the tissues and the ‘aha!’ moments, you uncover a version of yourself you didn’t even know existed—and that’s priceless.

We recognise that the secondary school years represent a significant period of personal, social, and academic development. As students encounter new responsibilities and transitions, it is natural for them to benefit from supportive spaces where they can reflect, seek guidance, and develop strategies to navigate these experiences with confidence.

Our counselling service is designed to provide such a space—calm, respectful, and centred on the holistic care of each individual.

Counselling offers students the opportunity to explore their thoughts and feelings in a confidential and supportive environment. Sessions may focus on a variety of themes, including managing academic expectations, adjusting to social changes, understanding emotions, or developing resilience and communication skills. Many students also find counselling helpful simply as a place to pause, process, and gain clarity during a busy school life.

Our service is available to all students, including those who may require additional support in their learning or daily routines. We take a holistic approach, responding to the individual rather than emphasising labels or specific needs. The aim is to ensure that every student feels respected, understood, and encouraged at a pace and level of engagement that suits them. Our counsellor is committed to fostering an atmosphere of trust, sensitivity, and professional care.

Through counselling, students may strengthen their ability to cope with challenges, enhance their self-awareness, and build positive habits that support both their academic progress and personal growth. We strive to help young people feel grounded, supported, and equipped to make thoughtful decisions about their development.

We hope that by offering this service, we contribute to a school environment in which every student knows that support is readily available and that their experiences are taken seriously. Families/students who wish to learn more about our counselling provision, or who feel their child may benefit from additional guidance, are warmly invited to contact their Head of Year for further information.
