A specialist Year 7 transition provision within the Inclusion Faculty
Information for parents, carers and visitors
Studio 20 is a small, nurturing provision that acts as a safe, welcoming bridge for Year 7 students with additional needs and those working below age-related expectations.
By prioritising emotional security and sensory wellbeing, we create a strong foundation for genuine learning. Every child is valued as an individual, with tailored support that builds confidence and helps them access wider secondary opportunities at a pace that is right for them.
A NURTURING BRIDGE INTO SECONDARY SCHOOL
Studio 20 offers a gradual, supported transition within a calm, predictable environment. Clear routines and familiar adults reduce anxiety, allowing students to focus on learning. As confidence grows, children broaden their school experience at their own pace building long-term independence and readiness for the next stage.
CURRICULUM AND LEARNING: HIGH EXPECTATIONS, INDIVIDUALLY SHAPED
The curriculum in Studio 20 is carefully tailored so every child feels secure, capable, and motivated. By breaking learning down into small, achievable steps, we build knowledge, skills, and confidence at a pace where every student can succeed.
-
A sensory and technology-rich approach. We combine targeted sensory experiences with modern technology to make learning interactive, accessible, and memorable. With access to our newly developed sensory room, interactive projector activities, and immersive VR lessons, students build concentration, retain knowledge, and grow in independence.
-
Personalised support. Each student’s individual goals sit at the heart of daily planning. Support is tailored, responsive. Progress towards personal outcomes is tracked closely so families can clearly see the impact of the provision.
-
Flexible pathways. For students who need a more bespoke approach, individualised lessons and personalised programmes are built into the day. These allow each child to learn at the right pace and level of challenge while remaining connected to the wider learning community.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
Emotional wellbeing is central to Studio 20. We teach self-awareness as a core skill, helping students thrive in a calm, low-anxiety environment.
-
Learning to self-regulate. Through weekly strategy sessions and access to our sensory room, students learn practical tools to manage their emotions—building skills they take confidently into the wider school.
-
Owning their journey. We gently help students understand their goals and why they matter. Working together builds motivation, independence, and real pride in their achievements.
ENRICHMENT, LIFE SKILLS AND PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE
Studio 20 offers a rich, practical experience that extends beyond the classroom, with a strong focus on building independence, confidence, and essential life skills.
-
Outdoor and practical learning Students regularly access outdoor learning opportunities, helping them apply their skills in real settings and navigate the wider world with growing independence.
-
Generalising real-world skills Carefully planned, low-pressure educational trips throughout the year help students transfer what they’ve learned into everyday environments, safely building the confidence needed for community life.
-
Social development A supportive range of enrichment activities—including swimming and structured clubs—supports communication, teamwork, and social interaction in a positive, well-supervised context.
SAFE, AND WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FAMILIES
Keeping students safe is central to everything we do. The environment is closely supervised, predictable and designed to help every child feel secure. Safeguarding is woven into daily practice.
We also know that strong outcomes come from strong partnerships. We work closely with parents and carers, valuing their insight, keeping them informed, and welcoming their involvement throughout their child’s journey.
OUR PROMISE
At Studio 20, each child’s emotional wellbeing and sensory comfort always come first. We believe every learner can achieve great things when they feel safe, supported, and truly understood. We are dedicated to helping Year 7 students settle in smoothly, grow in confidence, and make real, meaningful progress at a pace that works for them. Our goal is simple: to give each student a strong, secure foundation that sets them up for success throughout their education and beyond.
We would warmly welcome you to visit Studio 20, meet the team, and talk through how we can support your child.
