Mental Health & Wellbeing at Winchmore
At Winchmore, we want every student to feel happy, safe, supported and valued. We know that looking after our mental health and wellbeing is just as important as looking after our physical health, and it plays a huge part in helping young people feel confident, enjoy school and reach their potential.
We also know that life isn’t always easy. There will be times when students may feel worried, overwhelmed, low, or simply not quite themselves. Whatever they are going through, we want them to know that they don’t have to deal with it on their own.
Our aim is to create a school community where talking about how you feel is normal, where students feel comfortable asking for help, and where they know there are people who will listen without judgement.
Sometimes, just having someone to talk to can make a real difference. If something is worrying you, however big or small it may feel, please reach out. We are here to listen, support you and help you find the right way forward.
I look forward to meeting you around school and in the Wellbeing hub.

Winchmore's wellbeing code of conduct
Why Our Wellbeing Hub Code of Conduct Matters
Our Code of Conduct is an important part of the Wellbeing Hub because it helps us create a space where everyone feels safe, respected and welcome. The Hub is somewhere students should feel comfortable being themselves, asking for support and taking some time when things feel difficult.
Having clear expectations helps us all look after this space and, most importantly, look after one another. Respect, kindness, responsibility and consideration are at the heart of what we do at Winchmore. By following our Code of Conduct, we can make sure the Wellbeing Hub remains a calm and supportive environment where students can feel secure, continue with their learning and get the support they need.
The Code isn’t about having lots of rules, it’s about creating a shared understanding of how we treat each other and how we want everyone to feel when they walk through our door.
HERizon and empowerMENt - Winchmores wellbeing groups
We’re excited to be developing new wellbeing groups for both males and females at Winchmore School, creating safe, positive spaces where students can talk openly about mental health, build confidence and support one another.
A key part of the programme will be involving our Sixth Form students as positive role models and peer mentors. Working alongside the Wellbeing Team, they will help younger students develop strategies to look after their mental health, build resilience and feel empowered, with dedicated opportunities to support the wellbeing of both young men and young women.
Workshops and activities will take place during break times, lunchtimes and dorm times, covering different areas of mental health and wellbeing in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Stay tuned! More information will be coming soon from Mr Halladey and the Wellbeing Team about how the groups will work and how you can get involved.
Would you like to be part of it?
If this sounds like a group you’d like to join, support or help shape, please reach out to the Wellbeing Hub. We’d love to hear from you.
Supporting wellbeing. Building confidence. Empowering each other.
